Cellos of all sizes, books and accessories are available to hire. Come and enjoy the cello!

Whilst seeing a string quartet of music teachers playing a ‘Teddy’s Bear’s Picnic’ in primary school I fell head over heels in love with the cello and immediately decided this would be my life and career. Performance was never at the forefront of learning the cello, from the very beginning I always knew teaching was my focus and concentrating on this I thoroughly enjoyed getting a First Class BMus in Instrumental Teaching from Chichester University, and at the same time gaining a DipABRSM.

I’ve taught the cello in over 20 schools across Sussex, for Create Music and West Sussex Music, within small group and 1:1 lessons to over 100 children. Now embarking on a more relaxed chapter of teaching it’s time to really concentrate on each individual’s learning path, within a supportive and engaging environment. I approach lessons with a kind and friendly nature, believing in well-being over attainment, which organically fosters autonomous and excellent progress for pupils.

I adore teaching all ages and levels and have had pupils ranging from age 4 to 64, I’m also diagnosed with ASD and ADHD so am neurodiverse aware and very much welcome everyone!

I look forward to hearing from you! – eastbournecello@gmail.com

Having studied the cello since the age of eight, I have gathered many years of experience in cello performance and technique. I fell into teaching soon after finishing my degree and grew to love it immediately! It has been my privilege to teach young children, teenagers and college students, as well as adult learners. I have coached small and large groups of musicians but teach cello on a 1-2-1 basis. My experience spans all abilities. I spent several years learning with Anna Shuttleworth, one of the great British cello teachers, and have also been fortunate enough to experience very insightful masterclasses with Moray Welsh, Sue Lowe, Louise Hopkins and Melissa Phelps.

I believe in providing lessons that work to each individual pupils’ needs and wants, supported by my guidance. Learning the cello requires discipline and effort, and is a highly rewarding musical endeavour!
