After leaving Repton School (music scholar), Nick studied the trombone at Trinity College of Music with Roger Brenner, Bobby Lamb and Philip Jones. As a professional trombonist and singer Nick

has performed, recorded and toured all around the world with various ensembles; from West End shows and jazz/funk bands to symphony orchestras and brass ensembles, and has worked extensively in television and radio. Nick has worked with many artists including Cliff Richard, Gloria Gaynor, Anthony Newley, Beverley Knight, Tony Christie, Gareth Gates, Daniel Bedingfield, Lesley Garrett, Helen Shapiro, Paul Jones, Yazz, Roy Castle, Michael Bolton etc.

A former Head of Brass & Music Technology at Christ’s Hospital School, Nick is currently Director of Music at Eastbourne College (housed in the brand new Birley Centre) and arrives in Eastbourne via Lichfield Cathedral School (Director of Music) and Chetham’s School of Music, Manchester. His current musical project is a jazz ensemble, the Birley Centre Quintet, formed with renowned Portuguese trumpeter, Raul D’Oliveira.

Nick absolutely loves teaching and is happy to offer tuition on the trombone, trumpet, euphonium, tuba and French horn, plus lessons in jazz vocals and music technology to anyone, beginners to advanced. Lessons take place in the Birley Centre, Carlisle Road, Eastbourne.
